FRISCO, Texas – After collecting her second career hat trick on Friday night,
Giselle Laing was named the Red River Athletic Conference's Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week the conference office announced on Monday.
Laing, a senior forward from Freeport, Bahamas, notched all three of Louisiana Christian's goals in a 3-3 tie with Bethel Friday evening at Wildcat Field, scoring on all three shots she took in the contest.
With the Wildcats trailing 2-0 and less than 30 seconds to halftime, Laing got past her defender and beat the Bethel goalkeeper to cut the deficit in half right before the break. After LCU fell behind by two goals again in the second half, it was Laing scoring twice in less than two minutes to draw the Wildcats level once again, earning the draw.
Laing currently leads the RRAC in scoring with four goals in the early season. This is her first career RRAC weekly award.
Laing and the rest of the Wildcats (1-1-1) return to action on Saturday as they head up I-49 to Shreveport to take on NCAA Division III side, Centenary. Kickoff of Saturday's match against the Ladies (0-0) is set for 11 a.m. at Atkins Field.
