3/27/2024 3:59:00 PM

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Louisiana Christian University baseball program, despite going 5-1 against NAIA opponents and nearly knocking off the NCAA Division I's Northwestern State on Tuesday night, the Diamond Cats lost a pair of votes (37 total) in addition to dropping down one slot (32nd) during Wednesday afternoon's release of the second NAIA Top 25 Poll of the season.

LCU has rode the backs of its hard-hitting offense to most of its success, averaging 9.3 runs per game while ranking fifth in the country regarding OPS+ (117) and sixth for batting average (.353) according to the @NAIABall Twitter / X account that represents naiaball.org.

The Red River Athletic Conference is well-represented in the poll as three of the top five squads at the top of the standings on the list including #2 LSU Shreveport, (RV) Louisiana Christian, and (RV) Houston-Victoria while the clubs making up the third and fourth place spots, Texas A&M-Texarkana and LSU Alexandria have been on the fringe for most of the campaign.

The schedule sets the stage for some epic showdowns between the Cats and most of these squads down the home stretch as they will host the Pilots (April 5-6), and Jaguars (April 19-20) on top of traveling to the Eagles (April 26-27) plus LSUS (April 30, non-conference). The men from Pineville already took two-of-three from the Generals during their lone regular season meeting and will get a chance to sweep the home-and-home with the current 14th-ranked Loyola (New Orleans) Wolfpack when they head to Westwego for a Tuesday night clash on April 16 (3 p.m.).

an underrated Rams team from Huston-Tillotson rolls onto campus on Thursday and Friday, sporting a 2-10 record in the RRAC but brimming with confidence after taking down NCAA Division I foe Prairie View A&M on Tuesday evening.
