WACO, Texas – The Louisiana Christian University baseball program earned its second Red River Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week honor of the season on Monday morning when it was revealed that designated hitter
Braden Trull was the recipient among a stacked group of nominees, collecting his first career award at the collegiate level.
Trull, a redshirt freshman from Rosepine, Louisiana, led the Wildcats in batting average (.500), slugging percentage (.750), on-base percentage (.583), RBIs (6) and doubles (2) while also recording four hits (4-of-8), two runs scored, two walks, a sacrifice fly, and was hit by a pitch. In game two of the series at Jarvis Christian, he drove in a season-high four RBIs.
During the exhibition versus McNeese on Wednesday, he hit the Wildcats' only home run of the night, lifting a solo shot over the 390 foot sign just to the left of dead-center, which has very rarely been done since
Billy Allgood Field opened in the 1970s.
The burly righty is currently riding a seven-game hitting streak with a .370 batting average, accumulating 20 base knocks, 17 ribbies, 14 scores, seven doubles, six walks, and five times getting plunked in addition to a pair of sacrifice flies.
The Wolfpack from Loyola (New Orleans) makes the ride up from Crescent City on Tuesday for a midweek matinee at 3 p.m. in what will be a huge contest in the NAIA Tournament selection committees litmus test.
