PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Christian University men's soccer team turned an early penalty-kick save into an offensive surge Saturday, defeating Texas College 11-1 at Wildcat Field.
Goalkeeper
Ricardo Gross stopped a penalty kick at 6:54 to preserve a scoreless match, and
Aran Hernández Vivar put the Wildcats ahead at 15:10 after
Juan Sierra collected a loose ball in the box and supplied the assist.
The Wildcats continued to attack through quick combinations and service into the box.
Manuel Sosa-Villaseñor beat a defender and scored his second goal of the season at 28:01. Sierra then scored twice in a span of just over two minutes, first tapping in a cross from
Christian Sigaran at 31:53 before beating a defender for a 4-0 advantage at 33:56.
Texas College cut the margin to 4-1 at 42:40, but Louisiana Christian answered with two goals in the final 38 seconds of the first half.
Jos Willms converted a penalty kick at 44:22, and
Nicolás Navarro Amaya finished
Franklin Pagoada's switch at 44:45 to send the Wildcats into halftime with a 6-1 lead.
Louisiana Christian added five goals after halftime. Willms finished a
Zion Williams cross at 65:19, and Sigaran scored his first goal of the season three minutes later from Sierra's pass.
Willms completed his hat trick at 75:20 by converting Sierra's through ball. Sierra secured his own hat trick after beating two defenders at 86:29, and Navarro Amaya closed the scoring at 89:22 with a finish into the upper-left side.
Sierra led the coordinated attack with three goals, four assists, eight shots and five shots on goal, while Willms recorded three goals on six attempts. Navarro Amaya added two goals, and Gross made three saves in 45 minutes, including the early penalty stop. The Wildcats outshot Texas College 42-11, held a 19-4 advantage in shots on goal and earned 13 corner kicks while improving to 4-4-2 overall and 1-0-1 in conference play.
Louisiana Christian will play an away match against Our Lady of the Lake on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026, at 3:30 p.m.
