PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Christian University women's soccer team got a first half fat trick from
Izzy Childs, three of five goals scored in the first 45 minutes, as the Wildcats rolled to an 8-0 win over the Southwest Mustangs Thursday evening at Wildcat Field.
Giselle Laing got the scoring party started in the 15
th minute as she moved past a defender and beat the goalkeeper for the match's first goal.
Childs then needed a span of just seven minutes to score all three of her goals on the night, scoring in the 17
th minute by taking in a through ball from
Isabella Urbaneto and beating the goalkeeper, the 22
nd minute where she found a pass from
Katalina Medina for an easy tap in goal, and in the 24
th minute as
Maria White found Childs alone on the left side for the goal and a 4-0 lead.
Louisiana Christian (4-2-1, 1-0 RRAC) added one more goal in the first half as Urbaneto took in a pass from White and scored to make it 5-0 Wildcats over Southwest (0-6, 0-1 RRAC) at the break.
Medina got a goal of her own in the 57
th minute as she was called on to take a penalty kick, which she successfully converted.
Laing got herself onto a brace in the 79
th minute as she collected her own saved shot and didn't miss on the second opportunity.
Urbaneto got herself on a brace as well as she took in a through ball from Childs in the 81
st minute and slotted it home for the match's final goal.
With her hat trick, Childs moved into a tie for the team lead in scoring with seven goals on the year while her assist was her third of the season. She took four shots in the match with all three which were on frame going into the net.
Laing's two goals also gave her seven for the season as she also took four shots and put three on target.
Urbaneto's two goals were her first two of 2026 while her assist was her third of the year. Like Childs and Laing, she took four shots in the match and put three on frame.
White's two assists were her first two of the year.
Medina scored on her only shot of the contest, scoring her fourth goal of the season and getting her third assist as well.
Louisiana Christian took 16 total shots in the match, putting 10 of them on target.
Sara Mendivelso (2-1) got the start in net and the goalkeeping win in the contest as she played the first 45 minutes and had to make one save.
Marta Papandrea came on at halftime and played the final 45 minutes, making two saves to secure the clean sheet, LCU's second shutout of the season and second in a row.
Southwest took eight shots in the match, putting three on target.
The Wildcats look to keep the positive momentum going on Saturday as Texas College makes the trip to Pineville to wrap up the first weekend of conference play. Kickoff of Saturday's match against the Steers (0-9, 0-1 RRAC) is set for 11 a.m. at Wildcat Field.
