PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Christian University athletics program recognizes men's basketball's Chukwuemeke Nwaoshai and women's basketball's Kylei Leblanc as this week's LCU Student-Athletes of the Week with the former being named RRAC Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Nwaoshai, a senior from Lagos, Nigeria, set a season-high with three blocks in the win at #20 Our Lady of the Lake before matching that benchmark with the same amount in the victory over Texas A&M-San Antonio. The Wiley and Central Georgia Tech transfer led the Wildcats in blocks (6, 3.0 per game), total rebounds (17, 8.5 per game), and defensive rebounds (13, 6.5 per game) while also collecting a pair of steals (2, 1.0 per game) on defense as well. On the season, the 6-foot-9 Nigerian big man tops the team in rebounds with 109 for an average of 6.8 and moved into a tie for the blocked shots lead with Corey Lombard at 11, his boards total being more than double the next-highest player: Jon'Quarius McGhee's 53.
 
Leblanc, a freshman small forward / center from Lake Charles, Louisiana, went off for season-bests regarding points (13) and field goals (6) at OLLU while putting together her first career double-double at TAMUSA with 12 rebounds plus 11 points. For the week in the Alamo City, she shot 11-of-21 (52.4%) while averaging 12.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and a block in the pair of victories while also collecting an assist.
 
The guys look to remain one of the hottest teams in the league as they roll into the week on a four-game winning streak as they host both North American on Thursday (7:30 p.m.) and Huston-Tillotson on Saturday (3 p.m.).
 
The women had its first unbeaten weekend in awhile and will try to extend it another two games at home against the Stallions (5:30 p.m.) and Rams (1 p.m.).
