Athletics Starts Three-Week Stretch Of Road Trips With Litany Of Marquee Matchups

8/26/2024 10:54:00 AM

PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Christian University athletics program enters uncharted territory this week as it begins a 23-day stretch without a single home contest on-campus, a rarity with four fall sports competing at once, as soccer faces a pair of top-25 clubs while volleyball participates in five matches.

Tuesday, August 27:

Head Coach Brittany Salloum and her ladies will travel to the Big Easy for a outside-the-box crosstown doubleheader rematch at SUNO and Dillard, playing the Knights at 5 p.m. inside The Castle before bussing over to Albert W. Dent Hall for a 7 p.m. showdown with the Bleu Devils.

Thursday, August 29:

Women's soccer will attempt to pull a David and slay Goliath on Thursday in the form of the 2023 NAIA Runners-Up #2 William Carey Crusaders in Hattiesburg at 5 p.m., narrowly falling in the last two meetings by matching 1-0 margins, including its first postseason appearance back in the Fall of 2021.

Friday, August 30:

Volleyball will bring back some memories of its NCAA Division III roots this weekend, kicking things off with former American Southwest Conference rival Howard Payne at 2 p.m. followed by a seemingly annual adversary in the host Ladies of Centenary at 6 p.m. as part of the Country Cajun Classic.

Saturday, August 31:

Volleyball and (RV) men's soccer will conclude the month of August versus non-conference stalwart Millsaps (11 a.m.) and #20 William Carey (5 p.m.) respectively, with the latter being a golden opportunity for the "footballers" as a win/tie could propel them into the NAIA's Top-25 for the first time in program history.
