PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Christian University athletics program would like to recognize baseball's Chris Kelley and women's tennis' Elizaveta Mikhailova as this week's LCU Student-Athletes of the Week.
 
Kelley, a redshirt freshman from right here in Pineville, led the Wildcats in both batting average (.500) as well as RBIs (4) in addition to the club's lone sacrifice fly despite only recording four official at-bats. In game two of the series at Southwest, the catcher logged his first career hit with a double and his second career RBI on the aforementioned sac fly. Game three saw the former Pineville High School Rebel provide a jolt to the Cats' ninth inning rally by crushing a pinch-hit, three-run home run through the New Mexico air, giving him a 1.500 slugging percentage for the weekend.
 
Mikhailova, a sophomore from Moscow, Russia, was a stud in Saturday's regular season finales as she swept aside Texas A&M-Texarkana's Tatum Sikes out of the fifth flight (6-0, 6-0) on top of partnering up with Raquel Coelho Rodrigues in doubles competition to take down Andrea Castillo and Kenzie Fiest (6-2). The Bethel (Indiana) transfer gave both #5 Sara Sofia Sanchez Molano (4-6, 7-5, 0-1) and the #2 doubles pairing of Angela Basto / Lidia Gomez (6-6) big-time trouble despite neither matchup finishing out.
 
Baseball will have a pair of tall tasks ahead of them with a Tuesday matinee at #13 Loyola-New Orleans (3 p.m.) before welcoming (RV) Houston-Victoria for a three-game series in which the Seniors will be in the spotlight.
 
Women's tennis will make its Red River Athletic Conference Tournament debut on April 25 when the ladies head to the "Alamo City" to face a to be determined opponent.
