WACO, Texas – The Louisiana Christian University softball program has thrown a pair of no-hitters and witnessed some great performances so far this season but had yet to win the conference's weekly award . . . until now as
Morgan Louviere captured the Wildcats' first Red River Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week honor after blowing away the Bulldogs on Thursday.
Louviere, a junior from Opelousas, Louisiana, improved to 8-3 on the year with the game two win at Jarvis Christian, recording a no-hitter through 5.0 full innings, a hit-by-pitch from being perfect, before being pulled for
Carley Koch. She managed this feat despite only striking out one batter while also notching an assist as a fielder.
Despite baseball having three RRAC Player of the Week accolades in 2024, they have not produced a Pitcher of the Week, making the Angelina Community College transfer the first spring sport student-athlete to earn that distinction during this 2023-24 athletic calendar.
The right-handed hurler currently leads the team in wins (8) while sporting a 3.15 ERA over 33.1 innings in which she's allowed just 15 earned runs and ten walks in addition to fanning 19.
Softball returns to the diamond on Tuesday night for the first edition of their annual Red River Rivalry Series against the (RV) LSU Alexandria Generals at 5 and 7 p.m. inside
Wildcat Park with the theme being Autism Awareness.
