PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Christian University athletics program recognizes baseball's Jacob Bareswell and softball's Brooke Ross as this week's LCU Student-Athletes of the Week.

Bareswell, a sophomore left-handed pitcher from Monroe, Louisiana, overpowered the Wiley Wildcats in the doubleheader opener, earning his first victory in Orange and Blue by tossing three innings of shutout ball while striking out six as well as yielding just three baserunners. The Centenary (Louisiana) transfer has logged five frames, one start and one relief appearance, giving up a single run and punching out more batters (8) than baserunners allowed (5) so far in 2024.
 
Ross, a junior right-handed pitcher from Oak Grove, Louisiana, set the tone in the circle from the first pitch, dismantling Central Christian (Kansas) in a complete game, five-inning affair that saw her fan four Tigers and holding them down to a lone run plus two hits/walks. The former Forest High School graduate also drew a pair of walks in the batter's box as she claimed win number eight on the mound during her seventh complete game over 24 appearances at LCU.
 
The two spherical sports will participate in local tournaments as softball plays McPherson, Cottey, and Texas Wesleyan over at the same destination as last weekend during the LSU Alexandria General Showdown while baseball will head up to Sterlington where the 2024 RRAC Tournament takes place for the annual Cajun Collision opposite SAGU, Mid-America Christian, (RV) USAO, and Clarke from Saturday through Sunday.
