PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Christian University athletics program would like to recognize baseball's
Adrian Aguilar and softball's
Miah Broussard as this week's LCU Student-Athletes of the Week.
Â
Aguilar, a graduate student shortstop from New Orleans, Louisiana, led the Wildcats with five RBIs and two walks while hitting .364 (4-of-11) as he helped the Orange and Blue sweep his hometown team, Xavier (Louisiana). The former Nunez Community College transfer also stole a pair of bases, scored twice, smacked a double, and was a perfect 8-for-8 on field chances with five assists plus three putouts.
Broussard, a senior right-handed pitcher from Maurice, Louisiana, led the Cats to a complete game shutout victory in the Red River Athletic Conference Opener on Saturday at Texas College, giving up only five baserunners (3 hits, 1 walk, 1 hit-by-pitch) despite pitching primarily to contact with just one strikeout over 67 pitches.
Â
Baseball takes on Vermont State-Castleton on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. in a non-conference, inter-organizational matchup against an NCAA Division III school before partaking in the first half of this year's Red River Rivalry versus LSU Alexandria on Friday (6 p.m.) and Saturday (12 p.m. / 3 p.m.).
Â
Softball opens its 18-game home slate (not including hosting the RRAC Tournament) on Tuesday opposite the Xavier (Louisiana) Gold Nuggets (4 / 6 p.m.) before heading to the capital of "The Boot" for the March Mambo against Maryland Eastern Shore and Southern on SUBR's campus over the weekend.
