BATON ROUGE, La. – The Louisiana Christian University women's basketball program has trotted out one of the NAIA's top scorers night-in and night-out as sophomore
Princis Goff has finally gotten recognition at the state-wide level, winning LSWA Women's Basketball Player of the Week as voted on by Louisiana media members.
Goff, a guard/forward from Atlanta, Louisiana, becomes the first Wildcat to earn the accolade since January 25, 2021 when the Orange and Blue swept the awards courtesy of Kae'ron Baker (men) plus Alex Harrison (women) as well as the only player to claim the honor outside of the NCAA Division I for either gender.
In last week's contests at Huston-Tillotson and Our Lady of the Lake, the LSU Eunice transfer led the team in points (15.0) and steals (4.5) per game while shooting 36.8% (7-of-19) from the floor. The entire stat line included, she averaged 15 points, 4.5 steals, 4 rebounds and 1.5 assists a night.
On a national scale, the two-time RRAC Player of the Week ranks 11th for free throws made (130) and per game (5.7), 14th as far as free throws made per 40 minutes (7.8), 23rd regarding steals per game (2.8), 31st in points per game (18.6) and steals (65), and 43rd in points per 40 minutes (25.7).
Across the Red River Athletic Conference, she is the league leader regarding points per game, free throws per game (5.7) and free throws made (130).
Lastly, she is tops on the squad with 18.6 points, 5.1 defensive rebounds, and 2.8 steals on average.
The LSWA, Louisiana Sports Writers Association, selects nominees from all 26 collegiate basketball programs across all competition levels for the honor, including LSU, Tulane, Louisiana (Lafayette), Southeastern Louisiana, Grambling State, etc.
The ladies are back on the court tonight at 5:30 p.m. when they "host" the LSU Alexandria Generals inside The Fort on the campus of LSUA in the final edition of this year's Red River Rivalry hoops edition.
