WACO, Texas – The Louisiana Christian University women's soccer program is one of the best defensive units in the nation and the ringleader behind it all, goalkeeper Jaycee Woods, has become very decorated as a result, winning the conference's last edition of the 2024 Defender of the Week award for her third of the season and fourth overall.
 
Woods, a 5-foot-7 senior from Mount Pleasant, Texas, pitched her fourth & fifth shutouts over her past six matches including the team's second win over an opponent receiving votes in the top-25 on Saturday at (RV) Xavier.
 
The win over XULA locked up the #2 seed in the RRAC Tournament during as she helped the Wildcats tie & then break the program's single-season shutout record with 12 clean sheets in the club's 18 matches (66.7%).
 
The Texan notched nine saves against the Stallions and Gold Nuggets while playing every second of the team's season between the pipes as the only keeper on the roster.
 
Second-seeded LCU is just three (potentially two if #1 seed LSU Shreveport makes the finals) victories away from its second NAIA Tournament bid in program history (Fall 2021) and will look to take one step closer on Friday at 3 p.m. when they host the seventh seed from Our Lady of the Lake.
