PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Christian University women's basketball program is not satisfied with last season's eight place finish and will look to ride a handful of veterans with some young blood sprinkled in to return to their tradition of winning.
An exhibition is where the Orange and Blue start the year versus Southeastern Louisiana over in Hammond on the first day of November (6 p.m.) with their other tune-up game against a NCAA Division I opponent will be on November 11 at Louisiana-Monroe (6 p.m.) for the sixth season in-a-row.
Head Coach
Anna Phillips starts her third season on "The Hill" by heading to the Crescent City for its regular season opener against the Dillard Bleu Devils for a 5 p.m. tip-off on Tuesday, November 5.
The conference slate opens up at home on Thursday, November 14 with a new face as Louisiana Christian hopes to give a rude welcome to the Texas A&M-San Antonio Jaguars in their inaugural season as a basketball program at 5:30 p.m. inside
H.O. West Fieldhouse.
The familiar foe from San Antonio arrives two days later when Our Lady of the Lake makes its presence in Pineville on Saturday afternoon.
An absolutely brutal road swing will occur from November 21 through December 17 as LCU will travel to Huston-Tillotson (November 21), North American (November 23), LSU Shreveport (November 26), LSU Alexandria (November 30), and Jarvis Christian (December 12), before a one-off home game with Texas A&M-Texarkana on December 14 and then back on the bus to Tougaloo (December 17).
The 2024 athletic calendar will come to an end with the Paul Quinn Tigers on December 19 and the Southwest (New Mexico) Mustangs on December 21, both on-campus.
The new year will ring in with more road warrior mentality as the Cats kick-off the second half of the year by heading to Texas College on January 4 before remembering The Alamo the next weekend to wrap up its first home-and-home of the campaign at TAMUSA (January 9) and OLLU (January 11).
A lengthy homestand finally beckons the women from Pineville as they get to spend back-to-back weekends at home for the first time, hosting North American (January 16) and Huston-Tillotson (January 18) then the Red River Rivalry (January 21) and LSU Shreveport (January 25).
The next two matchups will both feature Xavier (Louisiana) on the other end as they play at the
XULA Convocation Center on January 30 then again inside H.O. West on February 1.
Jarvis Christian makes the trek to CenLa for a Thursday night battle on February 6 and the Cats make the short hike up to Texarkana that Saturday (February 8) before ending its road portion of the year with its longest distance traveled, out to Hobbs, New Mexico on February 13 and then making the long trip back East to Dallas, Texas on February 15.
Senior Night will be opposite the Steers from Texas College for the second straight season so mark the calendar for Thursday, February 20 at 5:30 p.m. as we honor
DaKayla Howard,
Yahzmynne Andrews,
Aaliyah Williams, and
Deja Tanks prior to the first tip.
The women look to make it 4-for-4 in terms of advancing to the RRAC Tournament at the
Rapides Parish Coliseum, which will take place from Thursday, February 27 to Saturday, March 1.
