OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Louisiana Christian University football program might not have come away with the win on Homecoming this year, but it did collect some hardware as
Jaden Jones flew all over the field on his way to being named the Sooner Athletic Conference's Defensive Player of the Week.
Jones, a sophomore safety from Jonesville, Louisiana, led the defense with eight total tackles including five solo stops and a half-TFL, snatched his first career interception and returned it an additional ten yards, and logged his first career outing with multiple pass breakups (2) against Texas College on Saturday.
The Block High School product has been the team's top tackler all season long, fronting Defensive Coordinator
Tyson Andrus' unit with 43 total takedowns and 26 solo tackles while registering three breakups, two tackles for loss, forced a fumble, hurried the quarterback once, and picked off Steers quarterback Amani Gilmore.
Jones and the defensive backfield will attempt to slow down the high-flying #24 OUAZ Spirit on Saturday morning (11 a.m.) who are coming off back-to-back games with 75+ points, a 76-14 win over Simpson and an 85-12 road romp at Arkansas Baptist.
