KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Louisiana Christian University football program is looking to build off of its season-ending six-game winning streak in 2022 and its first winning season since 2014 as Head Coach Drew Maddox's soldiers were rewarded with its first ever votes (3) in the NAIA's Top 25, Preseason Poll.
 
Checking in as the 33rd-best team in the country and one of three teams in the Sooner Athletic Conference on the list, the Cats will take to the gridiron for the first time on Thursday, August 31 against their longtime rivals, the East Texas Baptist Tigers, in the "Battle for the Border Claw" at 7 p.m.
 
The other two SAC squads to land among the nation's best includes #17 Ottawa (Arizona) and #21 Texas Wesleyan, the only teams picked to finish ahead of the Orange and Blue in the Sooner's Conference poll.
 
The Wildcats will not see either club until late October while neither program will make the trip to Pineville as LCU travels to Surprise for a showdown with the #17 Ottawa (Arizona) Spirit on October 21 at 6 p.m. CT before a possible de facto conference championship game in Fort Worth, Texas when Louisiana Christian takes on #21 Texas Wesleyan to wrap up the regular season on November 11 at 2 p.m.
