PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Christian University athletics program recognizes men's soccer's Shakeem Walters and volleyball's Kierra Jones as this week's LCU Student-Athletes of the Week with Walters being the leading scorer to propel the Cats to the RRAC Semifinals while Jones earned her first career Red River Athletic Conference weekly award as Attacker of the Week.

Walters, a junior from Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England, led all players on the pitch with three points, scoring a goal in the 106th minute and assisting Natty Essomba's score in the 99th. The six-foot business major was in part responsible for half of the club's four goals including two-of-three in the deciding overtime periods. 

Jones, a junior from New Orleans, Louisiana, joins teammate Emma Cother, as the only two student-athletes in team history to win a weekly award as members of the Red River Athletic Conference with Cother having brought home a pair of setters of the week accolades on top of one defender of the week honor. The six-foot nursing major torched the Mustangs' backline of defense with a sizzling .667 hitting percentage as she drilled 21 kills (3.00 p/s) over 30 attacks while committing just a single error. The Edna Karr High School alum also put forth two blocks, two digs plus a service ace. She is one of only three players to have played in all 22 matches this season, leading the squad in hitting percentage at .299 with the club-leading 64 blocks (0.85 p/s) to boot.

Walters and the soccer squad will meet the #3 seed Xavier (Louisiana) for the second time in three matches in the next round, which will take place on Thursday in Texarkana, Texas after the two sides ended in a scoreless draw in the regular season finale. 

Jones and her #4 seed LCU Wildcats venture down to NOLA on Friday morning for their RRAC Quarterfinal matchup with #5 Paul Quinn at 10:30 a.m. in hopes of securing its second consecutive campaign with at least one victory in the conference tournament.
