PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Christian University athletics program recognizes men's soccer's
Sergio Pita Martin and women's basketball's
Deja Tanks as this week's LCU Student-Athletes of the Week as soccer advanced to the NAIA Tournament's Second Round while basketball took down the Dillard Bleu Devils in their season and home opener.
Â
Pita Martin, a junior winger / striker from Madrid, Spain, had carried the Wildcats offense numerous times throughout the 2023 season, and he did so once again in the biggest match in program history, scoring all three of the team's goals during its First Round win over Hope International, notching his first career hat trick and the club's second of the year, joining
Adrian Amoros Navarro who accomplished the feat at Paul Quinn. The All-RRAC First Team selection and business major ended the season with a conference-best 40 points, 17 goals, and recorded four game-winning scores.
Â
Deja Tanks, a junior forward from Lake Charles, Louisiana, made an unforgettable first impression as a Wildcat with a double-double of 15 rebounds plus 12 points. The five-foot-nine LSU Eunice transfer shot 38.5% (5-for-13) from the court while adding a steal to her stat line as well.
