McGhee Nabs Player of the Week



Senior Kourtney McGhee, who played her final two games at H.O. West Fieldhouse this past week has been named the American Southwest Conference East Division co-Player of the Week. She shares the honor with UT Dallas' Victoria Pena.

McGhee averaged 16.0 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.0 steals per game as the Wildcats went 2-1 on the week. She had 24 points with five rebounds in a 73-66 victory at Belhaven and turned in a double-double of 12 points and 10 boards in a 61-58 overtime win against LeTourneau. She finished with 12 points, seven rebounds and five assists in a loss to No. 14/14 East Texas Baptist to earn her second career Player of the Week award.

On the year McGhee has turned in one of her best statistical seasons' in her career. She leads LC and is sixth in the conference in scoring at 14.8 points per game. She is one of the most complete players on the floor adding team best 5.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. She is also third on the team in steals averaging 1.6 per game. She has scored 325 total points this season, needing only 13 more to top last season's career-best mark of 337.

The Lady Wildcats will take on Ozarks on Thursday evening in their final conference game of the season before finishing the regular year with a game at UT Tyler. LC has already secured a spot in the conference tournament next week but a win on Thursday could move them into the third spot in the East Division. The 2018-19 tournament will be played in Belton, Texas at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, winners of the ASC West Division.
