Softball Adds Assistant

First-year Head Coach Barry Roberts is pleased to announce the hiring of Bailey Rankin as the new Louisiana College softball assistant coach entering the 2019 season.

Rankin is a graduate of Southern University in Baton Rouge with a B.S. in Elementary Education. She was a four-year member of the Jaguar softball team where she played as both a catcher and in the outfield. The Shelbyville, Kent. native was a team captain at Martha Layne Collins High School during her prep career. She also played on various travel ball teams traversing the country in tournament like the Adidas Futures in Utah, the Colorado Sparkler, and many other national championship tournaments.

"Bailey brings a wealth of knowledge about the game," Roberts said. "She has always been a student of the game and looks at it from an analytical standpoint. She has played the collegiate game as a catcher and as an outfielder. She knows and understands those positions as well as having a great knowledge of pitching and pitch calling. We could not be happier to have her on board as our assistant coach. She is also a person who understands the priorities we set out from day one; faith, family, academics, softball."

"I have always been a student of the game and wanted to be a coach to help young ladies achieve their athletic, personal, and educational goals," Rankin said. "I am exited to start this journey at Louisiana College to continue a winning culture at this program."

The Wildcats will begin their spring preseason schedule in January as they prepare for the 2019 season opening weekend at Wildcat Park as they host Schreiner University and Millsaps College the second weekend of February.
